Holocaust Museum

Augusta, Maine

RBA was invitied to submit a proposal for a Holocaust Museum in Augusta, Maine.   Our building is buried in the ground, protected by massive walls and an observation watch tower above ground.  This didactic architecture must convey to visitors the importance of its contents. To visit this place, one must partake on a journey to prepare for the experience they are about to encounter.   The architecture of the building must measure up to what one will find inside.

Interior gallery spaces and the archives will keep the heroic Holocaust survivors videotaped testimonies, electronic and print resources, and displays.  The architecture is designed to create dynamic, thought-provoking spaces to host seminars, workshops and encourage lively discussions.
